Abstract

|
Substance use disorder is a condition caused by the misuse of certain drug which results in clinically severe impairment of social or occupational function and typical diagnoses that require psychiatric treatment are abuse and dependence. Additional caution is needed for prescribing opioids to patients with osteoarthritis or chronic back pain in orthopedics. One need to suspect if abuse or dependence occurs because of the failure to notice the patient’s psychiatric problem and consultation to psychiatry should be helpful in this matter.
